Purpose of the Campaign

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the International Yoga Federation (IYF) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental awareness by encouraging yoga practitioners worldwide to honor nature through yoga, outdoor practice, and eco-conscious living.
The campaign emphasized that harmony with nature begins with awareness and positioned yoga as a bridge between personal consciousness and planetary well-being.

On World Environment Day, we celebrate our deep connection to the Earth through yoga:

• IYF retreats feature outdoor yoga sessions and eco-living practices.
• Yoga nurtures a heightened awareness of our role as caretakers of the Earth.
• In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land), IYF supports forest protection and youth leadership through initiatives inspired by the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF).

We invite everyone to practice yoga in nature on June 5th — to celebrate the Earth and renew our collective environmental responsibility.

The call was open to all individuals and organizations globally, with suggested actions including:
